Neck Pain

Neck pain is a very common complaint and most people will feel neck/shoulder pain at some stage in their life. On the positive side however, most episodes of neck pain resolve within a matter of weeks when managed correctly

Posture
Most people experience neck pain, stiffness and even headaches as a result of abnormal loads being placed on the neck from either poor posture or prolonged static positions.

Disc prolapse/ Disc herniation
A ruptured disc, also called a herniated disc, is another common cause of neck pain. This type of neck pain can produce pain in the neck and shoulder area and sometimes pain/pins and needles/symptoms in the arm commonly called referred pain.

Spondylosis
This refers to a wear and tear ( osteoarthritis) of the vertebrae.This too can give pain in the neck and shoulder area, it may eve cause pain radiating into the arm

Whiplash
This is a range of injuries to the neck resulting from a sudden acceleration or decceleration force, as commonly occurs in a car accident. This results in soft tissue damage to the ligaments, disc and muscles.
