Foot Biomechanics

The Foot is  a complex mechanical joint that provides the connection between the ground and our body during standing and walking. The way our foot connects with the ground during these activities is referred to as biomechanical analysis. As your foot connects with the ground the force is transmitted through your foot up your leg and your body. The structure and shape of your foot will influence these forces and the stress they put on structures elsewhere in your body i.e. knee hip and back

During a biomechanical assessment our therapists will look at the structure and shape of your foot we may also asses the range of motion not only in the foot but in joints higher up the leg e.g. hip or even lumbar spine

Orthotics are shoe inserts that go into the shoe. Depending on the type of orthotics used it can be used to support or correct musculoskeletal deformities and / or abnormalities that were found during the bio mechanical assessment
